After Manet's Boquet De Pivoines

6"x8" oil on canvas
This is my second contribution to Michelle Burnett's Following the Masters blog. The current assignment is to do a painting of flowers & gardens, so I chose to do one of Edouard Manet's beautiful flower paintings. This one is titled Boquet de Pivoines (Boquet of Peonies).

Edward, Great job. The dark background really works, doesn't it? Makes the flowers pop.

Edward, you are so brave - Peonies! And you did such a great job. They are the one flower that I fear. I like this Challenge. It's good exercise for the eye!

This is a wonderful painting in its own right, and also a great tribute to Manet's work. You have really captured the essence of the vase and the flowers. I have a book called "The Last Flowers of Manet". He was going blind, and managed to capture so much with so few strokes.
