Autumn Shadows

6"x6" oil on linen

Another contribution to Karin Jurick's Different Strokes From Different Folks.
My wife and I will be going on a vacation soon so it may be a little while before I will have something new to post. We are going on a 10 day Mediterranean cruise - it leaves from Venice, Italy (I will be celebrating my 43rd birthday there!), first stop Dubrovnik, Croatia; at sea; Santorini, Greece; at sea; Tunis, Tunisia; at sea; Malaga, Spain; Casablanca, Morocco; at sea; and ends in Lisbon Portugal. I can't wait!

Some Great News!

I have been contributing paintings to a blog created by artist Karin Jurick, Different Strokes From Different Folks, where each week she posts a photo that she has taken and invites artists to create their own version of it which she then puts on her blog. This morning I logged on to my computer and was thrilled to find a message from Karin stating that an editor for Southwest Art Magazine will be doing a story about her blog and that she would like to include one of my paintings! The painting she specifically asked for was my portrait of Karin's beloved dog, Jack.
I am very honored and excited to be included in the story which will be in the January issue of Southwest Art Magazine.

Jessie's Cows

Just thought I'd include a painting of cows that my great grandmother, Jessie, painted years ago.
The story I heard was that her husband, great grandpa Wilbur, had wanted a little farm with cows, but that never came to be, so Jessie painted this for him.
*A little historical note - Jessie was the first postmistress of Charles City, Iowa, around 1899.
